Perfect! Was about to complain about not having background customizations but then I read a developer's respone saying to long press a color. Thank you for this app!

GIF animation speed is preserved, ample customization options, and playback is smooth, even on my low-end tablet. Thanks for a great tool!

Everything is okay now! I hope that new features will be added and new color backgrounds!:)

My gifs run without a hitch and play smoothly. The app is easy to use and it does exactly what I want: play any gif file I want on my Nexus 5's daydream screen.

The ability to select a folder of gifs to play from (and configure the change interval) would make this much more handy than just playing a single gif continuously. That said, it does what it says it does well.

About this app

Simply choose a gif from your phone storage, select a background colour and how big you want it to be. The gif will loop indefinitely next time your daydream starts.

If you are new to Daydreams:
A daydream is basically a screensaver which you can set to come on when your phone is charging and idle. To enable it, open this app, then open the System Daydream Settings via the overflow menu and choose DreamGif from the list.

New features

0.97.2 (03 February 2015):
Bug fix: No longer crashes if the 'System Settings' shortcut fails. If this shortcut does not work on your device please find Daydream in your device settings. You should find it under 'Settings -> Display -> Daydream'.
0.97.1 (02 February 2015):
Bug fix: Should now work properly on Android Jellybean 4.2-4.3.
