About this app

Smart Briefer is a smart flight briefer for VFR and IFR pilots. Instead of dumping data, Briefer analyzes weather information and gives you a plain English assessment of the flight conditions you will likely encounter, the flight risk, and the kind of experience and airplane capability you should have before attempting your flight.

Just like your 1 800 WX BRIEF briefer, Briefer checks weather conditions at departure, destination and along your route of flight. The briefing analyzes METARs and TAFs at departure, destination and enroute, as well as Nexrad weather radar images, Airmets and Sigmets relevant to your flight, saving you from wading through lots of raw weather data that is not relevant for your flight.

The briefing is presented in easy to digest sections, with color used to highlight risk levels. The summary section tells you what flight conditions to expect (e.g. IFR) and what level of pilot experience and airplane capability is required to safely complete your flight. Details for each section (such as the actual METARS, TAFs, Nexrad picture and Sigmets relevant to your flight) are also available, with data shown graphically on a zoomable map, and in text form.

Briefer uses data provided by NOAA's National Weather Service, and is for flights within the US only. While we do our best to provide accurate information and analysis, the briefing provided by Briefer does not constitute an FAA-approved flight briefing.
