রাসূল (সাঃ) এর দেখিয়ে যাওয়া সুন্নতই হল সর্বোত্তম ও পূর্ণাঙ্গ নিয়ম-কানুন। যে মারা যান তার জানাযা, কাফন, দাফন এই সুন্নতের অর্ন্তভুক্ত। মৃতব্যক্তির জানাযার নামায হচ্ছে সে মৃতব্যক্তির প্রতি সর্বোত্তম সম্মান প্রদর্শন করা। আমাদের প্রিয় নবী (সাঃ) ও তার সাহাবীরা যখন কারো যানাযার নামার আদায় করতেন তখন তারা সারিবদ্ধ ভাবে দাঁড়িয় আল্লাহর নিকট দোয়া করতেন ও এবং ইখলাসের সঙ্গে ঔ মৃত ব্যক্তির জন্য় ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করতেন।

বিশ্বনবী (সাঃ) মৃতব্যক্তির কাফনের জন্য ভাল এবং সাদা কাপড়ে কাফন পরানোর আদেশ দিতেন আর সেই দিকে ও খেয়াল রাখতে বলেছেন যে বাড়াবাড়ি ও বাড়তি আপচয় না হয়। আমাদের সমাজে এমন অনেক দেখা যায় যে আমরা মৃতব্যক্তির জন্য অনেক টাকা খরচ করে কাফনের কাপড় কিনে আনি এমনটা করা মোটে ও ঠিক নয়। আমাদের মাঝে এমন অনেকেই আছে যারা মৃত ব্যক্তির কবরে মাটি দেওয়ার দোয়া জানি না সে ক্ষেত্রে আমাদের এটি জানা খুবই জরুরি।
