Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing OPM Status on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Just as broken as the official OPM app.

Is there a way to see which day the status is for? Comparing the site to the app right now makes it look like gov is closed today.

This app is simple and straightforward enough but doesn't display correct status and details. App currently shows "open" and report to work on time but OPM website shows "alert" and unscheduled leave/telework permitted. Please update appropriately.

About this app

Super simple app that checks OPM (US Office of Personnel Management) to see if there is a closing or delay. Unfortunately, the official app crashes on Android Lollipop or on the ART runtime. I also wanted configurable alert notifications with an app that looked like it was meant to run on Android Lollipop. I quickly pulled this together, and after I built it realized it might be useful to some other people, too.

Refactors some code, and eliminates caching in network calls.

Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
