Find out how to create this fun crab using egg carton cups and a few other supplies. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances. For best results, read through all of these steps before you start making this craft.

Let's begin.

- Gathering The Supplies



Before you start any project it is easiest to gather together all of the supplies. For this project you will need:

Egg Carton
Acrylic Paint
Craft Glue
Chenille Stems
Wiggle Eyes
Monofilament or String (optional)
Scissors
Utility Knife
Paint Brush

Now we can start.


- Cutting the Egg Carton

Use the scissors or utility knife to cut one cup section from the egg carton. Trim to create an even edge around the cup. Adults should help kids with this step.

- Painting the Egg Carton Cup

To create my crab body, I painted the bottom side of the egg carton cup red. Use whatever color you like. Let the paint dry.

- Cutting Chenille Stems

While you are waiting for your crab's body to dry, you can cut your chenille stems. You will need 2 chenille stems of the desired color and cut several pieces. These sizes are approximate:

2 pieces 6-inches long
2 pieces 1/2-inch long
8 pieces 1 1/2-inches long

- Glue on the Legs

Glue the eight 1 1/2-inch pieces of chenille stems around the edge of the egg carton cup as shown in the photo. Be generous with the glue!
