About this app

URide is a rideshare app developed for Android devices with the purpose of helping your students find a rideshare opportunity.

URide makes it easy to share a ride and helps keep traveling costs down—exactly what students are looking for when they need transportation. At the same time students can develop a larger social network making the university experience more satisfying and fun. For many students trying to find a ride home from college to visit family and friends can be a frustrating experience. Particularly new students who are still building a personal network often find it a daunting task. URide helps students find rideshares quickly and safely.

Access to the URide app is restricted to students in good standing at your university. Students typically share a similar schedule, making it easier to find a ride, when they need one. This restriction also gives parents the peace of mind that their student is not traveling with 'just anyone'.

Whether searching for or offering a rideshare, the simple and intuitive user interface enables the student to easily enter their personal travel preferences. Instant confirmation is given when a rideshare is available and accepted.

URide has a build-in messaging system allowing students to communicate through the app in order to: share details regarding their travel plans, make additional agreements or even discuss short-term changes.

URide has an integrated report system, which allows students to be able to report any misconduct in association with a rideshare. If necessary, students can be temporarily suspended or even permanently excluded from using the software.

In order to protect the students' personal information and travel arrangements client-side encryption has been implemented. All personal data is encrypted and decrypted directly on the user's device. No personal data or identification of the student is available in plain text form on the cloud server.

Many universities have committed themselves to environmental protection goals. URide can be an integral part of this program. Ridesharing reduces emissions and helps conserve precious resources.
