Aquascape berfokus pada tanaman air, kayu, batu, dan benda-benda yang menjadi media tumbuh tanaman. Sedangkan ikan hanya menjadi pelengkap. Ikan yang digunakan biasanya berukuran kecil dan tidak merusak tanaman. Sedangkan akuarium lebih berfokus kepada ikan yang menjadi isinya.
