ॐ का अर्थ ईश्वर अथवा परमपिता परमात्मा रुप मां महालक्ष्मी जो भगवान श्री हरि अर्थात भगवान विष्णु की पत्नी हैं हम उनका ध्यान धरते हैं वे मां लक्ष्मी हमें सद्मार्ग पर चलने की प्रेरणा दें। अर्थात हम मां महालक्ष्मी का स्मरण करते हैं एवं उनसे प्रार्थना करते हैं कि वे हम पर अपनी कृपा बनाएं रखें। इस लक्ष्मी गायत्री मंत्र का जाप करने से रुतबा, पद, पैसा, यश व भौतिक सुख-सुविधाओं में शीघ्र ही बढ़ोतरी होने लगती है।
