Not all women grow accustomed to the rigors of wearing high heels all day. For most women, breaks are important for the well-being of their feet. For example, women who have to wear heels as a part of a work uniform might take the shoes off when on break and give their feet a little break. In fact, some women because very adept at sneaking in little breaks for their feet throughout the day. Co-workers may not even realize that these women are curling and stretching their toes under their desk when nobody else is looking. Some women who wear high heels all day make it look effortless, yet they still put a lot of effort into making sure their feet get periodic breaks.

Every woman wants to stock at least a pair of high heels in her closet. These shoes are basically slim and sleek and provides a sensuous look. They raise the heel of the foot of the wearer higher than the toes giving an aesthetic illusion of more slender, longer and toned legs.

The high heel shoes when worn gives the woman an appealing and stylish look. The entire definition of fashion and style changes when a woman wears these shoes and walks around the streets or at the parties. They become the centre of attraction. The height of the heel generally varies from 4 inches to 8 inches. However, some heels even exceed this limit.

The high heels came into fashion in 1950s. At that time they were sturdier and did not provide high comfort to the feet. The shoes were designed in a way so that the wearer did not fall down or loose control while walking. Between the 15th and 17th century, these shoes were considered to be a symbol of higher strata. With passage of time, these shoes are somewhat less of a social status symbol. Today, they have become more easily available in the market.

In the days gone by, heels could be worn to parties only. But with the passage of time, high heel shoes are now being worn to the office and even for doing standard work like doing the grocery. The style icons of today set examples by putting on innovative types of high heels which are later incorporated in daily wear by the people. They may even put on embellished heels with a lot of painting and carving. But these shoes can now be worn for any occasion.
