About this app

The Mississippi Association of Self-Insurers, MASI, is committed to representing the interests of the self-insured workers' comp and health community by promoting knowledge and providing advocacy in legislative and regulatory arenas. MASI members include group self-insurers and individual self-insured employers. MASI is strongly supported by many professional organizations that serve self-insurers, such as third party administrators, healthcare providers, attorneys, accountants, rehabilitation counselors and specialists in related services. MASI is overseen by a Board of Directors with a representative from self-insured groups and corporations.

Keeping Self-Insured Workers' Comp Strong

MASI promotes and protects the interests of self-insurers in legislative, administrative, and judicial forums. MASI is committed to aggressively pursuing a workers' compensation program that adequately compensates the injured employee while preserving reasonable limitations on employer responsibility. MASI does not oppose reasonable and necessary regulations. However, as many self-insured employers and groups know, there are public administrators and lawmakers nationwide who have attempted to enact extensive and burdensome regulations for self-insurance. To ensure that regulations remain reasonable, self-insurers must be actively and forcefully involved in the development of these regulations. MASI offers self-insurers this opportunity.

Promoting and Protecting Self-Insured Healthcare

The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010 promises to radically transform America's health care system. The Mississippi Association of Self-Insurers is committed to helping employers throughout our state better understand the implications of these changes and how to best deal with them. By keeping our members informed and offering educational and training opportunities, MASI offers a guiding hand to Mississippi's self-insured employers by helping them understand the requirements of the new law, timetables for compliance and how to best adapt to the changing environment. Through its alliance with national healtcare lobbyists in Washington, MASI can also be an effective link to advocating better legislation and protecting what works for self-insurers.
