About this app

Bethel Tabernacle is a United Pentecostal Church in Houston Texas ,

The history of Bethel Tabernacle is rich in Christian sacrifice, determination and a great family heritage. This history began with Oliver F. Fauss. It all started in 1929, when Oliver F. Fauss and his wife, Jewel, felt the calling of the Lord to build a church for the glory of God in Houston, Texas. For four years, Pastor and Mrs. Oliver F. Fauss, family, and congregation worshiped in rented halls and tents. During one period of time, services were held under the trees in a public park. This church began during the onset of the Great Depression. In 1934, the church located a five-room building on North Palmer Street. This place was converted to a church. In 1940, a stone building was built at 116 North Palmer Street. As God continued to bless the church with souls, the congregation eventually outgrew the building.

Rev. David L Fauss, son of Rev. and Mrs. O.R. Fauss rejoined his father as Pastor of Bethel Tabernacle in September of 1998. His history with Bethel spans over 20 years of ministry.

Before his graduation from Spring High School, Pastor David was involved in traveling and playing guitar for several gospel-recording artists. He made several national tours with Jimmy and Bobby Shoemake and later with Will and Shirley Cohron. During this time he became involved in playing and assisting in several recording projects for the national Home Missions Department. After attending Texas Bible College in 1970, he was licensed with the United Pentecostal Church and traveled as an evangelist for 81/2 years. During this time he preached and sang in 44 states and in several hundred churches.

Pastor Fauss went on to become an ordained minister and holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Church Administration Degree from Twin Cities University. Pastor David Fauss has lead seven tour groups to Israel. He has also preached conferences and special services in Jamaica, Panama, Haiti, and Israel.

After traveling from 1971 until August 1979, Rev. David Fauss returned to Bethel Tabernacle to serve as co-pastor of the church. He served in this capacity for 11 years. During this period Bethel experienced great revival and growth. Bethel Christian Academy also dedicated a new facility during this time. Brother Fauss’ ministry in music also continued. He produced and recorded over thirty music projects for various Christian recording artists, many of them in his own recording studio.

In 1990, Brother Fauss was elected as pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church in Orange, Texas. For 8 years, Brother David Fauss served as pastor of this thriving church congregation in Orange. During this time the church experienced a revival and growth bridging many new familiar into the congregation. The church was completely renovated and re-dedicated under his leadership.

Pastor David Fauss returned to Houston in September of 1998 and has remained as pastor of Bethel until the present.

During his ministry, Pastor David Fauss has served in different sectional and district offices. He served on the Texas Home missions Board for 2 years, as Texas District Youth Secretary for 6 years and was Editor of the Apostolic Sentinel for the Texas District United Pentecostal Church for 8 years. During this time he also served as Texas Bible College as instructor for 2 years. After the formation of the South Texas District United Pentecostal Church, Brother David Fauss served on the South Texas District Constitution Committee, assisting in writing the constitution for the new district. He has served on the Parliamentary Committee as a parliamentarian for several of the annual district conferences for the South Texas District. He serves presently as chairman of the Budget Committee for the district.
