About this app

"ICU Charts is far more than a checklist," explains Prof. Maria Vargas Researcher at the University of Naples "Federico II". "This is the first application available on the market based on an innovative and standardized approach, which can rely on solid scientific bases, the result of the review of the latest international literature literature."

ICU Charts was designed to visit the patient in intensive care, every day and even several times a day, with a standardized methodology according to the latest scientific evidence. "The visit of this patient is very complex," says Prof. Vargas, adding that "it is not about to visit an organ or apparatus, but to visit all the apparatus, the fluid status, the nutrition, the septic and more" .

ICU Charts contains 43 clinical-instrumental evaluations divided into 8 sections:
• Awakening
• Breathing
• Circulation
• Delirium
• Exercise and mobility
• Feeding
• Glucose control
• Infection

For these reasons, ICU Charts is the closest thing to an electronic medical folder, updated and standardized, that physicians can have on their smartphone or tablet. The reports of the visits are stored locally on smartphones or tablets, allowing the physician to compare in a practical and immediate way, for example, the morning visit to the one of the afternoon without the need to access to an external service.

"The experience of daily work in Intensive Care Unit," reminds Professor Vargas, "teaches us that the approach to the patient in intensive care is a source of anxiety and worry, especially for younger or less experienced colleagues."
In fact, according to a recent survey, more than 80% of intensive care physicians would have a "To-do list" for day-to-day management of patients. For this reason, it is intended to provide a scientifically validated, standardized and accessible tool, a complete bundle for critical patient visit. This application may facilitate the input into care plans, encouraging participation from all team members about “where to go from here”.

ICU Charts allows, even in the hands of experienced physicians, to reduce the average time to visit the patient about 4 times.
