In designing this new calendar, Caesar is assisted by the astronomers of Alexandria, who suggested that the new calendar be made by following the solar revolution, as did the Egyptians. One year in the new calendar was counted as 365 quarter days and Caesar added 67 days in 45 BC so the year 46 BC starting on 1 January. Caesar also ordered that every four years, one day be added to February, which could theoretically avoid aberration in this new calendar. Not long before the caesar was killed in 44 BC, he changed the name of the quintilis month by his name, julius or juli. Then, the name of the sextilis month was replaced by the name of the successor julius caesar, emperor augustus, into August.
