About this app

Now in its regular annual springtime spot, the Guernsey Literary Festival is fast establishing itself as one of the island’s great arts events. It is based right in the centre of beautiful St Peter Port and if you like books and you like islands this could be your perfect book festival starter.

The Guernsey Literary Festival has grown from strength to strength over the last six events, attracting authors including Sebastian Faulks, Carol Ann Duffy, Terry Waite, Clare Balding, Linda La Plante, Will Self, Chris Riddell and Michael Morpurgo. Many of our star speakers take part in the Festival’s extensive education programme in schools for young readers. As well as talks, there are workshops, discussions and displays.
The festival has remained faithful to its principles of reaching out to the whole community and offers an extensive educational and outreach programme in the library, schools and even the prison. We also organise two Festival competitions - the WriteStuff, our children’s writing competition and Poems on the Move, our international poetry competition.

We also organise two Festival competitions - the WriteStuff, our children’s writing competition and Poems on the Move, our international poetry competition.

We run a Festival bookshop on the Market Terrace for the duration of the Festival in conjunction with Lexicon and book signings will take place with authors after each event. Books by festival speakers will also be available from Lexicon in the run up to the festival.

The Guernsey Literary Festival is a not for profit organisation and registered charity, run by volunteers and is supported by generous and committed sponsors, patrons, members and partners. Many thanks also to this year’s guest festival curators Huw Lewis- Jones, Sally Johnson and Steve Foote.

Our festival dates for the next 4 years are as follows:

1st-6th May 2019 / 30th April-3rd May 2020 / 13th-16th May 2021 / 12th-15th May 2022
