Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing DineSafe/YorkSafe Toronto on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

search feild doesn't work. hate how when you click on restaurant and it brings you Toronto website with no info about the resto you've clicked on

Most current information is from 2011, which is appalling. There's also no manual search feature, only an auto-search based on current location.

Also, would be nice if one could start searching upon launching the application, rather than having to wait while it get a GPS fix

Very nice app. Continues to improve. If initial loading times based on location could be improved it would be perfect.

Use this app to confirm if the restaurant (in the Toronto and York Region) that you are about to eat in is safe!

This is the only app in the world that supports location-aware DineSafe AND YorkSafe data in the GTA (i.e. this app simply does not exist for the iPhone nor is there any other app that aggregates data from these two data sources).

Did you know that a restaurant with a Green Health Card may have had a yellow or even red card just last week?

This application uses historical DineSafe & YorkSafe data from OpenData Toronto and is fully location aware.

York Region includes King, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Georgina, East Gwillimbury, Vaughan, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Markham

Simply start the application and the 15 closest restaurants will be shown. The most severe historical rating for a DineSafe restaurant is shown immediately along side each listing.

- Click on the listing to get detailed historical DineSafe/YorkSafe Data

- Augmented Reality View is provided to show off your cool Android phone to your friend

- Search for specific names of restaurants in either the DineSafe or YorkSafe databases

This app is based on the world famous "Augmented Traffic Views" platform which is also rebranded as PhantomAlert.

DineSafe and YorkSafe data is updated for Dec 2011.
