Cleveland Cavaliers is an American basketball team incorporated in the National Basketball Association. This team is based in Cleveland, Ohio. The team began playing in 1970 as a new team. The team's best achievement was to become the Eastern Conference champion (for the first time in 2007).

The Cavaliers made several changes at the end of the 2005 season. Under new owner Dan Gilbert, the team signed new head coach Mike Brown and new general manager, former forward Caveliers Danny Ferry. The team had success in the current season, entering the first playoffs since 1998. After winning in the first round, the Cavaliers returned to miss 0-2 in the second round, winning three games in a row to just find one more game to reach the final of the region. They lost tightly to the 6th game at home and were finally followed by a 79-61 defeat in the 7th game.

The Cavaliers continued their success in the 2006-07 season. The team finished second in the east with a 50-32 record, promising a number of interesting matches in the playoffs. They fight with the Wizards, who struggle with injuries towards the end of the regular season. The Cavaliers brushed the resistance in the first round 4-0, and 4-2 in the second round. The Cavaliers face the Pistons in the Eastern Conference final. After once losing in the first two games in Detroit, the Cavaliers won in the next three games to lead 3-2. This time, the Cavs got rid of Detroit in game 6. The team's first trip to the NBA Finals was so fast, after they finally lost and were knocked out of a strong team which beat the Cavs 4-0.

The Cavaliers stepped back in the 2007-08 season. They struggled with injuries and many changes in players including three player exchanges at the end of the opportunity. The Cavaliers end the 45-37 regular session and lose in the second round of the playoffs. At the end of the 2008 season, the team made major changes in their core arrangement, exchanging Damon Jones and Joe Smith with point guard Mo Williams.
