About this app

Background: Events keep happening all around us, of various types like Religious, Spiritual, Social, Education, Sports, Dance, Drama, Music and more, in various forums, interesting and informative lectures on various subjects, at different locations and on different dates/time across the calendar. If one has a specific interest in events of a particular type or all events at a particular center, then how can he/she be kept informed with latest updates directly. This is the key issue that is being taken up to be resolved with the help of technology.
Aamantrana is a mobile App based system that can facilitate sharing of details about all events that happen in the neighbourhood. Some of the key features of this system are:
• Details about events can be uploaded by the event conducting organization or forum as desired, remotely through the same App or through website. Basic info about the event like name of event, date/time, venue, contact person(s), couple of images of brochure etc. and any other relevant information will be allowed to be uploaded in advance.
• Key reference information about each event like category of event (Religious, Spiritual, Dance, Drama, Music, Sports, Education, Knowledge Sharing etc.), with details of speaker/ performer/ faculty.
• The App user will be able to filter events based on multiple parameters including category, location, time period, speaker/ performer/ faculty etc.
• Post completion of event, the event organizer will be allowed to upload a given number of photos, even provide a link to where all photos are pre-loaded etc.
• Details about any event will be available on the system server for a period of 1 month after the event completion as archives.
• Registration is mandatory, both for event organizing forums as well as user. This will help track usage as well as for sending notifications to users who want to be informed about specific events of interest to them individually.
• This system will be available free of cost to all interested forums.
• Some useful knowledge sharing feature like “Tip of the Day”, meaning of a Sloka or a holiday etc. will be shared through the App from time to time.
• The venue will be selectable from a defined set of venues (with provision to add new venues). This is to facilitate the tracking of the location using Google Maps features.
• The user will have to option to set his/her preferences to type and location of events as desired. Also the option to receive notifications will be provided.
This first version is for Android based smartphones only. Based on demand and popularity the iPhone version will be considered later due to cost implications. We will gradually add more features based on feedback and usage.
