Was ist ein CSD eigentlich und warum?

Die bunte, selbstbewusste Demonstration gibt es weltweit und in Deutschland in mittlerweile über 40 Städten. Alle beziehen sich auf eine Juniwoche 1969 in der New Yorker Christopher Street, als in der dortigen Bar „Stonewall Inn“ mal wieder eine willkürliche und brutale Polizei-Razzia stattfand. Im „Stonewall Inn“ trafen sich lesbische Frauen, schwule Männer, Männer in Frauenkleidung (Drag Queens), Frauen mit maskulinem Habitus (Butches) und auch Menschen mit Transitionswunsch. Die Razzia traf dieses Mal einen Nerv und es geschah eine Revolution: die Gäste des „Stonewall Inn“ wehrten sich, kesselten die Polizisten ein, es entwickelten sich Straßenschlachten. „Schluss mit der staatlichen Gewalt gegen unsere Minderheiten!“ war die Parole und sie verbreitete sich binnen kurzer Zeit um die ganze Welt. Ein Jahr später fanden in mehreren Städten der USA erstmals Gedenkmärsche an die „Stonewall Riots“ statt.

Wer macht einen CSD und wer den CSD in Bremen?

Heute und in Deutschland sind die Christopher Street Days lokal organisierte Kundgebungen, oft mit Demonstrationszug („CSD-Parade“ in Anlehnung an die „Pride Parade“), oft mit Bühnenprogramm aus Politik, Kultur und Information. In vielen Städten finden auch Diskussions-, Film- und Konzertabende, Lesungen und Workshops oder Themencafés statt. Getragen werden fast alle CSDs von gemeinnützigen Vereinen, in denen ehrenamtliche Teams das Rückgrat des CSDs bilden.
