To draw a star is not difficult, every child knows how to do that! A little drawn star means appraisal, that's why when children are very young, they don't get grades but a little star or a smiley face. It is fun for adults as well as for children. They can be colored in many different colors like red, yellow, blue or green. Pink is very popular, but gold somehow seems the most appropriate. It is not an overdoing to color a star pink, green or blue. An actual star is also colorful. When observed from the telescope one star has red color, another blue or even green. A star that is red is usually a dwarf star. A giant one is normally blue. Actually the color of a star is determined by its temperature. You would think, because it's kind of logical, that red stars are the hottest, but no- in the terms of Universe, blue is hotter than red. So a blue one has a much higher temperature than a red or a white star. For example, our sun is not a very hot star, for our needs it is just hot enough, but in stellar terms it is not very hot. Although the sun looks yellow from the Earth, from deep space it would look white. If the Sun were cooler, it would give off light more on the red end of the spectrum, and if the Sun were hotter, it would look more blue. And that’s just what we see with other stars. The coolest stars in the Universe are the red dwarfs. These are stars with just a fraction of the mass of our Sun. They don’t burn as hot in their cores, and their surface temperature is about 3,500 Kelvin. The light released from their surface looks mostly red to our eyes, although there are different colors mixed up in there too, red is the majority. On the opposite side of the spectrum are blue stars. These are stars with many times the mass of the Sun and so their surface temperatures are much hotter. Blue stars start out above 10,000 Kelvin but they can reach 40,000 Kelvin with the largest hypergiant stars. Red, white or blue a star is a star and it looks lovely in the night sky.
