日本語勉強中の主人と一緒に楽しめるアプリを探していたところ、このサウンドノベルの存在を知りました。その名の通り「音声付き小説」、音声と同時に字幕が出てきて、自分のペースで無理なく物語を進めることができます。（難しい漢字や言い回しも含まれるので日本語上級者向け）紀元600年代、ビザンツ帝国支配下にあったエジプトがイスラム化した時代の物語。前半は比較的ゆっくり物語が進みますが、後半はキリスト教VSイスラム教の構図をイスラムサイドから見ていく形で、おもしろい逸話なども取り入れられつつ、スピーディーに展開。「いつだってどこかに必ず自分の信仰を押し付けないと気が済まない人がいる」という台詞が印象深い…今でも同じですね。この物語を通して知りましたが、アラビア語の「こんにちは」、「アッサラームアライクム」は、直訳すると「平安があなたの上にありますように」という意味だそう。昨今、ニュースなどで聞く「イスラム」の話題は、過激派やテロを連想させるものが多く、イメージが少しネガティブなものになりかけていましたが、過激な人達はごく一部。こんな素敵な挨拶を生み出した宗教文化、また「良心のイスラム」の再認識になったのですごくよかったです
