About this app

Think of the front doors as the mouth of the house. New door design is where the house gets its intake of energy, whether they be good or bad. Having good energy coming through the front door design is similar to a person eating healthy. The occupants of the house will be happily enjoying a comfortable home that’s full of positive energy. In a more practical sense, the interior doors frames your first sight as you leave and enter the house. Custom wood doors works a little like first impression, and it impacts the mentality, mood, and attitude on how you start the day and how you feel when you get home.

Choose a style for your front steel doors that complements the design of your home and adds curb appeal. Your front internal doors can represent you or your family’s personality. If you are more traditional, you may opt for a classic wooden front doors. Or if you are more artistic, you may include decorative glass elements. Because every house and homeowner is different, picking a front door design that suits you and your home is important.

If your wooden doors is stained wood, or was previously finished with oil based paint, decorative doors need a coat of primer before you paint. Coat your entrance doors with one coat of quality adhesion primer such as Glidden Gripper. Note that water based primers and paints allow for expansion and contraction outside among the elements far better than oil based paint, so work with water based primers and water based latex or enamel paints designed for external doors.

If you have the patience, space, and materials, go ahead and take your wood interior doors off the hinges and lay it flat on sawhorse legs. You can paint door window on the hinges but laying it flat will help prevents drips and runs. You can also tape the hardware, but for a truly professional job go ahead and take those off too. (This is a great time to change those out as well!) Next, sand, clean, and prime the solid doors. This will ensure a true color and no yucky painted dust clumps.

If you are installing a new design door, choose one without a window. If you already have a windowed hardwood doors – or fall absolutely in love with a design door that has a window – you’ll need to take a few extra security measures. Choose reinforced glass, and consider adding decorative bars or metal reinforcement. And if residential steel doors doesn’t break local fire codes, you should also install a secondary double glazed front doors lock at floor level – far away from a burglar’s reach.
