The Story Behind Fear2Peace - By Barbara Baker

My brother, Bill Sturm, was diagnosed with Cancer at a young age. Watching him suffer and eventually die and the fear and anxiety that accompanied it, was more than I could handle. I felt myself going into depression as I had no control over the situation. I would come home and turn to the Bible, looking up verses to help try and relieve the anxiety and fear. I would write down these Bible verses and keep them in my purse to carry them with me as a reminder of what God was trying to instill in me. While I was still grieving, the fear and anxiety eventually turned into a sense of calm. It was at that time I knew Jesus that was in complete control.

On Christmas Day of 2014, I had a very vivid dream. I felt God telling me to show people how easy it is to get rid of the fear and anxiety - bringing your heart to the peace that only He can give. In the dream, God's details were quite clear showing me how to do it. It was clear that this was God's plan, He was in control, and I wasn't about to go into this alone. He helped surround me with the people that would turn this dream into a reality. The Fear2Peace app.

I would later come to realize that when God gives you a dream it's not something that you can do on your own. Putting your trust in Him is the key to success.

The scope of the project was so large and overbearing and out of my comfort zone, I put it aside and thought 'This is crazy, God.' I tried to put it out of my head and go on with my everyday routine.

I kept thinking about this dream. It stayed with me, repeating the idea in my head. The more I tried to just do the things that I was tasked with doing daily - the thought of this project kept coming back. God was saying 'This is what I want you to do.'

I resisted because I was afraid to do this project. It was out of my comfort zone. I spoke with friends and family who encouraged me to listen to God.

The fear and anxiety surrounding cancer was my primary focus. I wanted to show people that God is sooo much BIGGER than cancer. I would research and write notes on how to put this down on paper. I had notes everywhere. I prayed and prayed, asking the Holy Spirit to put my research into words... and that is when the project truly took flight.

The words came out on paper without thought. The end result would be what Jesus may say to us during many different times in our lives when we go through fear and anxiety. After writing them down, she felt it was time to share with the rest of the world. This app has 21 different topics about fear and anxiety that we all face in our daily lives.
