About this app

Create your own wind chime:

You can make your own gorgeous wind chime from just a few different sized tin cans. Gather your tins and help your child to decorate them using paint and glitter, lots of glitter. Then make a hole in the centre of each tin with a nail. Thread the string through the holes - tie a knot at the end of each piece of string and tie them together. This is a great activity to encourage your child's creativity to shine and add some music to your courtyard or patio.

Make recycled crayons:

Do you have some old, unused crayons lying around the house? We have the perfect idea for your child to make something out of these unwanted colour sticks. Help your child gather all the old crayons together and break them into smaller pieces. Get out a muffin tin and spray it with non-stick spray, put the crayon pieces into each of the muffin holes in the tray. Place it into your pre-heated oven (180 degrees) and bake for about seven minutes. Remove from oven and let them cool completely. Pop crayons out of the tray once cooled, and the crayons are ready to use. Try mixing crayon colours to make more interesting, funky colours.

Milk carton pencil holder:

Recycle your milk carton so that you and your child can create a stationery holder together. Draw a line around your carton at the desired height and cut along the line. Then assist your child in choosing and cutting out pictures that they wish to decorate it with. Use the glue to stick the pictures to bottom of the milk carton. There you have it - your new stationery holder. You can brush a layer of PVA glue over if you would like to, to protect the pictures.

Home-made finger paints:

This is a very easy way to make your own finger paint for your child, and they can help too. Take three tablespoons of sugar, half a teaspoon of salt, half a cup of corn starch, two cups of water. Mix all the ingredients into a saucepan and heat until the mixture thickens. Let it cool and pour into containers. You can add different colour food colouring to make the different hues and then the finger painting fun can begin!
