In sewing or clothing design, patterns are pieces of paper which are prototypes of parts of clothing or sewing products. This pattern is used as an example so there are no errors when cutting the fabric. The pattern is very important in making clothes. Whether the clothes worn by someone (coup) are strongly influenced by the truth of the pattern itself. Without a pattern, clothes can be made, but the results are not as good as expected. It can also be interpreted that quality clothing patterns will produce clothes that are pleasant to wear, beautiful to look at and of high value, so that it will create satisfaction for the wearer.

There are many types of patterns that can be used in making clothes, one of which is a construction pattern and a standard pattern. Each of these patterns is drawn in a way that is not the same, has advantages and disadvantages of each, for more details it will be explained one by one:

1. Construction Pattern
The construction pattern is a basic pattern made based on the wearer's body size, and drawn with calculations using mathematical methods according to the system of construction patterns of each type.
Making construction patterns more complicated than standard patterns but also takes longer, but ultimately gets better and fits the wearer's body shape. There are many types of construction patterns including: sewing system patterns, finished system patterns, charm system patterns, Aldrich system patterns, Meyneke system patterns and so on.

2. Standard pattern
A standard pattern is a pattern made based on a list of common sizes or standard sizes, such as Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), and Extra Large (XL) sizes. The standard pattern in its use sometimes requires adjustments according to the size of the user. If you have a fat or thin body, you have to adjust the pattern, if you wear tall or short, you must adjust the length of the pattern. Apart from things above someone who wants to adjust a standard pattern to its size, you should be able to choose a pattern that is close to its size.
