You'll also want to consider whether you want to paint your walls in solid colors or include patterns. Stripes, stencil patterns, sponge painting and textures can add a touch of style to any bedroom. Consider a colorful mural in a child's room for a personal touch. Smaller patterns lend themselves to a more traditional look; larger geometric patterns, bold stripes and sweeps are compatible with a more contemporary look. For a truly unique look consider a pattern or mural on the bedroom ceiling, or consider painting your ceiling the same shade as your walls.
