About this app

Pencak silat is a traditional martial art originating from Indonesia. In contrast to most other martial arts, pencak silat has its own characteristics, namely the movement that looks broken.

In Indonesia the name pencak silat began to be officially used after the establishment of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association or IPSI. Previously in Indonesian regions it was called with various names, such as silek, silat, pencak and others.

In the era of Eddie M. Nalapraya's leadership, Indonesia had an ambition to spread pencak silat to foreign countries by initiating the establishment and establishment of PERSILAT or the Persatuan Silat Antarbangsa on 11 March 1980 with Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.

Those four countries were finally declared as the founding countries of the international pencak silat organization. And thanks to the efforts made together, now pencak silat has spread in many countries.
