About this app

The Be5tCounter application was created to assist judges of martial arts competitions in counting scores during sparring. It is designed for ease of use. By default, there is a red corner and a blue corner representing the competitors. If a competitor scores a point, then the judge just need to tap on that colour. Each tapping will increment by one point.

During competitions, competitors can score multiple points in split seconds. The application still relies on the sharp eyes of the judges and their quick responses on the tapping on the correct colour (corner) to record all the appropriate points.

In forms (or katas) competition, the application can be switched to one counter mode, where there is just one competitor being examined at any one time. Scores can be gained (for correct movements) or deducted (for mistakes made) depending on the score system being used. The One Counter screen can be selected by pressing on the phone’s menu option, then “One / Two Counters”.

At the end of each competition, the scores need to be transferred to paper. The application does not record the scores on database. The scores can be reset for another competition by selecting on the phone’s menu option then click on “Reset count”.

Although the simple application was original created for martial arts competitions, its one counter mode can be used for any counting purposes as a manual counter. The advantage over a manual counter is that it is free and it is always in your phone.
