Location has to be enabled or else scale will mostly not connect. This is not prompted by app nor scale, so its gonna waste a lot of folks time and put them through unnecessary frustrations. In addition, app itself looks highly unpolished for a company making the most expensive coffee scales. Be prepared for your brewguide pictures to go missing every few edits, typing cursor to jump around a lot, and unintuitive mechanics for inputting recipe. Acaia, you have to do much much better here.

This app is minimally if at all useful. It does not have the two popular items I use nor does it enable me to add them. I use a bonvita (similar to the Clever dripper which it also does not have!) . It also doesn't have my grinder a new Fellow Ode nor can I add it and it reverts to the "common" medium setting which renders it completely useless since it has 10 settings. For a fancy scale it's an embarrassment. Update this.

Edit: Acaia recommends updating to the latest version of the app, version: 1.0.21 -- however that would be impossible, as the latest version listed in the Play Store is 1.0.20. So I'm still in the same situation as the other reviewer who said that only 4 recipes are available. //// Original Review: How can a scale this nice have such a horrible app? Also, why does it require three separate apps to use and manage the scale? The search feature doesn't work, so it's impossible to find any brewguides. I'm sure there are more brewguides out there, but it's impossible to search for. If this app actually worked as advertised, this scale would be worth the pricetag. This isn't unique to Android either, the iOS version of the app has 4 reviews total, three of which are 1 star. The one brewguide I've gotten to work on my scale is absolutely fantastic -- and if the library of brewguides worked as advertised, I'd give this app 5 out of 5... but it doesn't, and in the 4 months I've owned my Acaia Pearl S, this app hasn't improved one bit.

Same experience as others reported. I cannot do a proper search of all the recipes in this guide. There has to be something broken with the searching algorithm. I get limited results. I certainly don't get the recipes that are here in the app description.

Great potential but, like other reviewers, I can only access very limited Brewguide recipes with no ability to search for more. I have the latest version from the Google Play. Appears this is a common problem and preventing Android users getting the most from the Pearl S

Took some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it works fantastic.

About this app

Welcome to your new scale! The Acaia Pearl S pairs with all of our apps but this is the one to use to set up the scale. If you don’t have a Pearl S, you can still browse and create recipes.

In Brewguide, you can:

* Walk through a setup guide to adjust settings like turning on/off modes, changing the weight unit, adjusting the auto-off timer, turning on/off the button sound, and changing the temperature unit.
* Personalize your Pearl S with your own loading message
* Browse official recipes or create your own with a QR code or link
* Easily transfer a recipe to your Pearl S - the scale holds one recipe at a time

To enter Brewguide mode, where you view the loaded recipe’s prompted steps, hold the Tare button until you see “Brewguide” on the scale.
