I've been cooking 3 meals every week for the last month. I'm not sure if it's the audio guide or that the shopping list is made up, or the meal packs designed to minimize waste, but this app surprised me by making me consistently cook my meals. It really has been a game changer for me. My only quips are that the portions seem to be larger than for 2 people ( I just cook for myself) and some of the recipes love using a LOT of oil. Recipes have been hit or miss, but nothing's been bad so far.

Great tool overall for trying new recipes, limiting food waste, and improving confidence with cooking. The portion sizes are often a bit off. Sometimes we end up with tons of leftovers and other times we just have enough for one meal. They are constantly adding new recipes, so I'm hoping to see them eventually work with a dietician to get some better-balanced meals available. The meat-focused recipes are often missing veggies, and the vegetarian recipes are usually too low in protein.

The developers are doing an amazing job. It works so well, is easy to use, and is extremely accommodating. You can add dietary restrictions and even filter out things you just don't like, or maybe aren't available where you live. You can add, view, and vote on special twists to the recipes, if there's a substitution or addition that works. There are even multiple timers with labels for each item and a voiceover audio for each step! How nice is that?!

Originally I signed up for Sidekick thinking that I wouldn't use it very much, but I was happy to support SortedFood. Only 1 year later, I find myself relying on it nearly every week. I've always enjoyed cooking but often wasn't very efficient in the kitchen. For meals I would usually take at least 1 hour to cook not to mention clean. The Sidekick app has really helped me learn how to whip up meals efficiently and easily. Thanks! 😁

(I am a subscriber in the US.) If you're in the UK, I'd give the app 5 stars. Full stop, it's great. But there are some issues from this side of the Atlantic. Though they offer measurements in both metric and imperial, the instructions are only in metric, so imperial is pointless. The ingredients list does not account for US packaging sizes, so "no food waste" is MUCH harder because it's just not designed for the US market. The meals themselves are delicious, but it needs a real US version.

It's ok..not good for Americans. Although you have the option to turn on Imperial (American measurements), it only switches on the items you need. In the actual recipe, it's in metric. So, you end up frantically looking up conversions which is annoying and a bit stressful. Look I get it, Americans are behind the 8 ball on themetric system. Still, 55 a year you could try replacing the amounts in the recipe.
