About this app

Countdown app showing the remaining time in journalist Paul Miller's self-imposed exile from the internet. See http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/8/3007525/paul-miller-offline for more details.

Major features include:
-Widget
-DashClock extension
-Being entirely Free Software under GPLv3 and copyleft-next; contribute or fork at https://github.com/keithzg/paulmillerisoffline

After reading http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/24/4026142/paul-miller-offline-app I thought to myself "hey, it can't be too hard to create an Android app." Some hacked-together code examples later and I had some text outputting the countdown time. "Okay cool," I now thought to myself, "it can't be too hard to publish this to Google Play then." The registration fee of $25 and a bit of documentation skimming later and I'm typing these words that you're reading!

Figured I should publish it on Google Play and get a feel for how all that works, though, so here it is anyways! If, unlike me, you *are* good at programming for Android, feel free to contribute or fork at https://github.com/keithzg/paulmillerisoffline . The contributors beyond myself so far have been:

-Espian(dev) - overhauled my original ugly app to be significantly less so, and otherwise changed a lot for the better.
-Genicus - Added sync to the time kept on his website http://pauldown.genicus.be/ which was the genesis of all this.
-Andrew Rockefeller - Did the design for the iOS app, and graciously allowed the assets to be used by all
-FausticSun - Added a DashClock extension
-Sarriel - Wrote his own app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sarriel.paul from which the widget in *this* app is entirely sourced.

New features

New in v1.6:
-Widget from Sarriel's app

New in v1.5:
-Thanks to FausticSun, now sports a snazzy DashClock extension! I personally hadn't heard of DashClock before, but it looks snazzy and open source: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.dashclock
