I think it is a security hole that it able to take photo without asking for a master password. Because AES256 is a symmetric algorithm and the same key is used to encrypt and decrypt data and if it is not asking for master password for encryption that means that they store your encryption/decryption key in the phone, which is of course is very bad! Also it says that for changing master password app needs to delete all photos that already have been taken.
