This app far exceeded my expectations both as a technical product manager and as a huge fan of Shepard's work since the mid 2000's. Experiencing this show in a digital space, fully narrated by Shepard, gave me the feeling that he was giving me a private guided tour while explaining the meaning behind each piece in the show. Shepard has always been an advocate for democratizing and making art accessible to all people and this app is like a giant megaphone that allows people all across the world to experience his art and hear his message. Bravo!

I love the entire concept of this app, the value in having a gallery experience of a series that I will not be able to visit in its initial run is welcomed. The art in Damaged is some of Shepard's most dynamically designed so it leaps off the phone well. The audio narrative is informative and relaxed, detailed but not too artpeaky. The only complaint I have is the resolution of the work when you zoom in is very lacking. To get a true gallery experience i shouldn't have pixelation when I get closer than 5 feet from the piece. That said it is still hopefully a model that works and we can see more artists do the same and a new category of art dissemination and revenue can be created.

I did not have the opportunity to visit the Damaged Show (which is a shame) because I am a total fan of Fairey... however, this App really gave me an intimate one on one interactive experience with the ability to virtually walk through the show without crowds swarming! Plus, having Shepard narrating and providing his insight into where these pieces came from is what really resonated with me. He truly portrayed the precarious time in which we currently live in such a beautiful eye opening show. I appreciate this collaboration & applaud this app's ability to engulf you as if you were there in real life!

Wow! Had an idea of what to expect but when I actually started getting into the app I realized I needed to set it down because I just got off work with things to do in this is going to delay that without a doubt! Very easy interactive controls and easy interaction with the art while getting to hear Shepherd narrate the meaning behind the art. So far everything I wanted to interact with worked and my goodness the wall with all of the prints is going to take a few hours to go through every piece I can tell already. But having only been able to make his provocateurs show in Chicago a few years back, because I live in Chicago, this is a great alternative when you just can't go but want to I stare at the art at the exhibit. I thought I was going to delete this but looks like LOL

Amazing!!! I didn't get a chance to see Shepard's Damaged exhibit last year and glad I now have the opportunity to see it. This is a great interactive app that allows each user to view each piece of work and listen to Shepard's message behind them. This is a great way to allow us to share Shepard's art with everybody.

I received a gearVR as a gift a few months ago. Never really made use of it until now. I'm in complete awe, as the app has exceeded my expectations. Of course being at the show in person would be preferable, but for those who live on the opposite end of the coast or world, one can't complain, but appreciate the experience this app can offer it's fans. Hope to experience a kaws show in VR sooner than later! (Hinthint)

About this app

It’s been nearly 10 years since Shepard Fairey’s last solo exhibition in his hometown of Los Angeles and the iconic HOPE imagery he created for then Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Now for the very first time Shepard Fairey's work has been transformed into a virtual reality experience. experience his most ambitious show to date, aptly titled DAMAGED.

In this unprecedented political climate, Fairey’s message has changed from hope to purpose: “DAMAGED is an honest diagnosis, but diagnosis is the first step to recognising and solving problems. "I definitely think that art can be part of the solution because it can inspire people to look at an issue they might otherwise ignore or reject.”

DAMAGED also takes aim at another hindrance to reformative communication: social media. For what should be the most meaningful platform for important discussion ever created, discourse has fallen secondary to self-indulgence and celebrity:
“Even prior to the election, I’ve been troubled by the social media mentality of ‘construct your own reality’ in superficial terms, at least. The internet and social media are valuable for democratization, but as Marshall McLuhan warned with his—”the medium is the message”—the rapid pace and temporary nature of social media can lead to throwaway approaches from the consumer and the creator…”

* Listen to over 100 minutes of exclusive narration by Shepard Fairey.
* Interact with hundreds of artworks, including world premier exclusives.
* A full three dimensional photo realistic representation of his Damaged show.

Join Shepard Fairey in this state of the art virtual reality experience, where he will share his thoughts and methods behind his artwork.

The optional Augmented Reality feature of the app involves image analysis, which requires a clear image. The AR quality is reduced when the camera can’t see details, such as when the camera is pointed at a blank wall, or when the room is too dark. Excessive motion reduces tracking quality as well.
Use the AR feature in a well lit room and move your device gently to improve tracking quality.
