Perfect app for the trad or bare bow archery nerd. It requires input about gaps, personal measurements, and arrow speed estimate (from a table provided) but it provides a great visual approximation of where to aim your arrow tip to hit the bullseye at all distances and angles (up and downhill). It uses your phone's tilt and some nifty ballistic algorithms to calculate your aim point with any bow. Although I don't use it for official shoots because it would bump me from trad to bare bow category, it has helped me increase my accuracy significantly, even when I'm not using it.

About this app

To use arch4 you first enter data taken with your own bow, such as the gaps or sight positions at different target distances. Arch4 creates a model of your bow that allows arch4 to calculate the arrow's ballistic trajectory to the target at any distance or elevation. This is particularly useful for field archery where the targets are at a range of distances and where the targets may be much higher or lower than the archer.

Arch4 supports three archery shooting styles: Gap Shooting, Sighted Bows and String Walking

Arch4 can use your cell phone's camera and tilt measurements to improve your shot. For gap shooting the aim point for the arrow is displayed overlaying the picture of the target creating a virtual sight.

Arch4 will generate sight tables for you bow. You specify the range of distances and angles to your target and Arch4 fills in all of the values. The sight table can be printed as a quick reference. Interactive graphical sight tables are also available.

New features

Extends variable-drag arrow model to the string walking aiming style.
Adds an option to plot the calculated trajectory of an arrow vs. horizontal distance. This is the "Plot Flight" button on the Aiming tab.
