Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing NIHSS - NIH Stroke Scale on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Use this all the time clinically. Super basic but foolproof and very easy to navigate with extremely easy scoring explanations. Everything you need and no extra stuff to mess with. Only downside is you can't go backwards to re-score if you accidentally click the wrong thing. Overall love it and would choose it over some of the more flashy ones with more stuff that just gets in the way.

About this app

This is the newest version of my NIH stroke scale app, meant to help experienced clinicians score the NIH stroke scale. It is not intended for diagnosis or treatment, but is intended to help experienced clinicians with scoring.

This app was created by a neurologist, and was the first on the market. The prior versions are unable to be updated, unfortunately, so this is the newest greatest form based on feedback from the original.

This version automatically scores, has pictures to show the patient, and gives a breakdown of the score at the end. It now includes the option to share a screenshot of the score via email or text.

I am not a programmer by trade, I am a neurologist. I appreciate any feedback and reviews. Thanks for downloading.
