About this app

Created by the authors of the World best-selling MRI textbook, MRI in Practice, this app contains FIVE resources to help you in your quest for MRI knowledge. Now you can learn about magnetic resonance imaging on your smart-phone or android tablet, and take advantage of our new HD graphics.

At the heart of the app is an interactive multimedia lecture packed with key learning points from the famous international MRI in Practice course presented by authors Dr. Catherine Westbrook and Dr. John Talbot. This is not just a PowerPoint style presentation, but a fully-interactive 40 minute learning activity.

In addition, the app contains the written lecture notes with some all-new diagrams (not available elsewhere) allowing you to revise the course topics at your leisure - even in places where you can't listen to the audio-visual presentation.

The app also contains a multiple choice interactive quiz, so you can test your knowledge before and after watching the presentation. The quiz can be taken either as a summative-type exam with a score, or as a formative learning exercise.

Finally, there are two sections of links providing fast access to our books and live international courses.

This app contains a 40 minute audio-visual interactive eLearning activity from the image artefacts session of our course and deals with the problem of phase mismapping (motion artefact).

The presentation shows the common appearances of the artefact together with an explanation of how the appearance is caused, and strategies for reducing or eliminating the problem.

The content is aimed at imaging students, radiographers, trainee radiologists, veterinary practitioners, technologists and anyone else with an interest in the field of MRI.

The presentation featured in the app, is fully narrated by "MRI in Practice" author and eLearning expert Dr. John Talbot, and features plenty of animated graphics and computer generated imagery that help to bring difficult concepts to life in a way that cannot be achieved on a flat page or slide presentation. The app works brilliantly as a stand-alone learning aid, but is designed to mesh seamlessly with our other learning materials, the MRI in Practice textbook and the live course. This is unique in the field of MRI education, and provides the user with a rich learning environment where complex topics are approached from different angles in each medium.

The MRI in Practice app is therefore ideal as a fast-track learning tool for first time users, a cost-effective revision aid for technologists taking the USA registry exam, or as a handy pocket-reference for more experienced MRI users who wish to maintain, update or refresh their knowledge. It also makes a great introduction to our live course - and full details about forthcoming international dates are provided in the app.
