About this app

Born in Beirut in 1962.

Roger Moukarzel's passion started with war photography at the age of 15 in a conflicted
country and region. He worked in this field of photography for the next 15 years, his jobs
with Sygma and Reuters allowed him to explore the region and world during these highly
volatile times.

Roger's photo-documentaries were published around the world and in many international
publications. The illustrious French magazine Paris Match has also chosen one of his pictures
– a scene of destruction and mayhem in a Beirut street – to be featured on the cover page of
its 40th anniversary book.
15 years in photojournalism took their toll and the shift to fashion photography was
imminent.

A shift from scenes of death … to scenes of life
A shift from the ugly face of war … to that of beauty
A shift from shooting the infamous … to shooting the famous
This shift is most apparent in his personal work, which has been showcased in more than 15
exhibitions worldwide.
His two books "Trait Portrait" (published by himself) and "Wadi Qadisha" (published by
Aleph) offer a three-dimensional look at different aspects of Lebanese history and culture…
the human and his natural world.
