This app is great because it replicates the Connex thermostat. This way I only have to learn it once and works on both the physical hardware and the app.

Once you're able to log into the app, with the keyboard blocking the password box, it looks just like the wall thermostat - very intuitive. However, just try to get out of it. You can't. The app begins full screen and there's no exit or close function, or any way to minimize it. It also doesn't allow the soft controls to show, to allow you to back out or close the app. The only way out is to turn off the phone and restart it. This app needs work, big time. For me, I can't use it.

For all the bad reviews I am pleasantly surprised at how well it does function. The worst part of the app is logging in. It forces you to use landscape mode and the keyboard covers the name and password boxes. Other than that the app is responsive and easy to use, it's very similar to the wall thermostat in use. Time will tell but so far I have zero issues.

In near five years of use I've had absolutely no significant troubles using features that the app supports. While the first login can be problematic during the first start of this app, but if properly configured, after the first login it will login by itself when starting & running it after that first login. Yes there are a few features on the thermostat that are not available in the app, but the features that most people would most appreciate when checking and/or adjusting remotely are there.

I would think this app is more like 3.5 start... But I see so many low ratings because of "first world issues" ie forces landscape, klunky keyboard and what not. As for the functions, I have been able to do everything through the app... So, I am not sure others are having thermostat issues or user issues. One thing my installer told me was to keep the thermostat software up to date.

For some reason not all the selections on the unit are not functioning. Unable to schedule times, vacation, or zones. This is an issue with the thermostat. And it takes its sweet time to update the thermostat. Also the thermostat does not play nice with Alexa. The server is constantly disconnecting. The other issue is I cannot scroll down to easily entering the password. If your lucky you can cut and paste. Overall works well as long as their servers are not crashing and you don't mind waiting.
