This is great fun. I fumbled around with it for several minutes before I worked out how to control the needles (you have to twiddle each of the three little knobs on the edge of the dial); but once you're in control, it really is like having your own alethiometer! The alternative fruit-machine style UI with the three mini-dials is only available when using the app on a phone - fair enough as you wouldn't tend to use it unless your screen is too small for the main view. 5 stars when you can edit your notes.

Quite nicely thought out app. But the alethiometer is so small (about 1/6 of my HTC One screen) you can't see the symbols. The alethiometer should fill the screen.

But those of us with smaller android screens (and mine isn't even that small, it's a Galaxy S3...) would HIGHLY appreciate it and LOVE YOU if you enlarged the actual alethiometer imagery, the icons are so small I can't even tell what they're supposed to be unless I individually click on each one. ___ EDIT; Yes, the MOBILE works better, but the results are still very small and should be bigger. At least to make it easier to click? I am on an S5 now, but would still prefer bigger images. (:

Way too small symbols. I even switched to the mobile view AND have a 5.5" screen. It also apparently gives the option to edit the meaning of the symbols, but when the keyboard pops up it doesn't let you type anything. I love the idea but this is horrible execution.

About this app

/////////////////////////////////////////////
ATTENTION! The app is extremely out of date and the size of the images on new devices are too small. Unfortunately I have no way to fix it since I lost the source files of the application. I plan to create application again and correct all defects, but it will not be soon. And I don't know does it make sense or not. People need my app? If Yes, send me an email or write to me on vk.com so I will know that it makes sense.
Sorry for my English.

The Alethiometer (from the Greek "Aletheia" - truth) is a device from Philip Pullman's trilogy "His Dark Materials". With it, you can ask any question and to get the truth in answer. On the dial of the Alethiometer are depicted 36 symbols, each of which has a huge variety of meanings.

You ask him a question, setting his arrows on three symbols describing your question, and he answers. The answer of the Alethiometer is a sequence of any symbols. To correctly interpret it, you need experience or even some talent. Practice and you will succeed!
