I think that 7% of the total energy consumption of the smartphone is far too much! The background process eats up energy unnecessarily. The user-friendliness when zooming and panning the map still needs to be improved.

About this app

Mit der neuen App „Drone Space“ gibt Austro Control eine Orientierungshilfe, damit man als Drohnen-Pilot immer sicher unterwegs ist. Im Wesentlichen muss man vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme einer Drohne wissen, wo geflogen werden darf und ob für das Gerät eine Bewilligung von Austro Control erforderlich ist. „Drone Space“ beantwortet die wichtigsten Fragen.

Funktionalitäten im Überblick:

• Abruf von standortbezogenen Informationen über die Luftraumstruktur.
• Kartenmaterial immer aktuell, basierend auf den offiziellen Luftfahrtkarten von Austro Control
• Nach Angabe von Flughöhe und -radius wird angezeigt, ob man sich beispielsweise in einer Kontrollzone eines Flughafens oder in einem Flugbeschränkungsgebiet befindet.
• Berücksichtigung der entsprechenden Rechtsgrundlagen d.h. es wird gezeigt, ob im gewünschten Fluggebiet der Betrieb grundsätzlich erlaubt oder generell verboten ist bzw. eine spezielle Bewilligung oder Freigabe erforderlich ist.
• Darüber hinaus erhalten Benutzer eine generelle Information zur Bewilligungspflicht von Drohnen in Österreich.

Bei Erstellung eines Accounts (E-Mail-Adresse/Passwort) werden weitere Funktionalitäten freigeschaltet:

• Fly-Now-Funktion: Bei Aktivierung des Fly-Now-Buttons wird angezeigt, ob sich im näheren Umkreis weitere Drohnen befinden, auf die geachtet werden muss.
• Logbuch: Bei Aktivierung dieser Funktion wird überdies automatisiert ein Logbuch erstellt (Gerät, Datum, Uhrzeit, Location), das als Betriebsaufzeichnung herangezogen werden kann und damit beispielsweise die Verlängerung der Betriebsbewilligung wesentlich erleichtert.
